Creating a WishList

I can't recommend creating a wish list enough! Not only is it a fabulous visual for you to remind yourself of the things you see and LOVE, but its a great tool to stay focused when shopping and also see what will and won't work in your wardrobe. One of the worst things we can do is go shopping with zero idea of what we're looking for and zero focus. This is when we buy things "just cuz" we feel like we want to come home with something, then this unloved item sits in our wardrobe for years until its given away because we don't know how to style it or really why we bought it in the first place. If our end goal is to have a wardrobe that works as a whole and is filled with wonderful things that we LOVE so we get excited to get dressed every morning, then a wish list is where its at. When I see an item I gush over, I take a screenshot (usually when I'm scrolling on the sofa after the kids have gone to bed and my husband is sending me really unfunny memes from across the living room) and add it to a folder labelled "Wishlist"...before I know it I start to create a little mini wardrobe of gorgeous pieces that I can financially save for, rather than spend money on little bits that don't serve a purpose. As you can see in the image below, the colours go together and will make sense in my neutral wardrobe. If I'm having a funny five minutes (usually pms-ing) and add something totally left field, I can reference back and see it has NO place in my considered/curated wardrobe: delete.

None of the pieces on my Wishlist are cheap, which is a good sign. It means I need to spend time thinking about and saving for the new pieces in my wardrobe which is a total mindset change from the fast fashion mentality I grew up with. I'm at a point now where I want my wardrobe to be filled with quality pieces (usually comes at a price) and pieces that I LOVE, truly truly love. We're so used to seeing something, liking it, buying it without much thought, then not really knowing what to do with it. With a visualisation like a Wishlist, it allows us to spend time thinking about how the pieces will fit in our wardrobe and be styled with other pieces. What's even better is things are easily deletable, changed your mind? Too expensive? Just delete it and focus on the pieces that will make you happiest. The next step (and the real test) is trying things on. Yes I've been salivating over these items for months, but if I put it on and don't get all the feels, the tingles and the internal excitement Im looking for then its a hard no and I'll save that cash for something else. If I'm in two minds about something, then its a no. If I can't see myself getting a lot of use out of something then its a no. I want my wardrobe to be filled with wearable fabulous pieces that make me feel fantastic! If you're looking for the same and need a little help getting there then please get in touch here and we can work together to get you a fantastic wardrobe that makes you feel as fabulous as you are.
